Dear Monica Lewisnky was published in the U.S. in April, 2026 and will be published in the UK/Ireland in September, 2026. Because I live in France with little kids, it’s been hard for me to get to the U.S. for events, so in lieu of my redolent fleshly presence, I offer you a number of digital alternatives.
I spoke to Amanda & Ellyn at Dog Eared Books in Ames, Iowa, because I love them and their podcast, Bubbles and Books, and I am telling you seriously about a private fantasy of mine when I say I like imagining I work there and I get to wear a jumpsuit on Jumpsuit Thursday and learn about everything they’re reading and be part of what is a genuinely vibrant home. I’ve literally never been to Iowa, people, and it’s my hometown bookstore, that’s how great they are. We’re all nuts and we open bad sparkling wine, but make no mistake, these bitches really know how to read, and this is an insightful deep-dive conversation about the book, if that’s what you’re looking for.
I spoke to nightingale-voiced Elissa Nadwordny on NPR’s Weekend Edition about sainthood and comedy and what Monica means to me. Nadworny has that wonderful skill of getting at meat of a book in a short amount of time– it was a great conversation.
I spoke to Sara Fredman over at her brilliant Write Like a Mother substack. We got into academia and how academic training and thinking helped produce this book. Apparently I got angry about pheasant? Writing makes you weird, and Sara is wonderfully warm and generous about writing and what it does to you.
Absolute heaven to talk to Matt Ortile at Conde Nast Traveler for his new column, Write Here, where he talks to people about traveling for research and inspiration. I told him about how Cathedrals make me laugh because they make normal life look so small and broken.
I talked to Annasue McCleave Wilson over at Publisher’s Weekly for like three hours because it was so fun but you can read this short excerpt, where I mention Reclaimed (Lewinksy’s podcast), American Mermaid, and how I’m actually very logical.
I hope to come to America and sign books and drink MeatCoffee or whatever you’re doing over there now. I love being present and talking to people about books!
